Papers, 1931-1935, of R. S. Bristow and Son of Middlesex County, Virginia, consisting of correspondence, invoices, and price lists detailing the business operations of the store, as well as a menu, 18 September 1915 from the restaurant in the McAlpin Hotel in New York City. Also includes correspondence, 1922-1923 and 1951-1952, of W. I Stockdon (1891-1968) and Bryan Stockdon (1924-2010) of Richmond, Virginia.

Biographical / historical:

R. S. Bristow and Son was established in Urbanna, Virginia, 1876, by Robert S. Bristow as R. S. Bristow. The store was operated as R. S. Bristow and Son during the 1920s and 1930s. The store is still open in Urbanna as R. S. Bristow.
