Scope and content:

Register of militia officers commissioned in the Virginia militia between 1828 and 1857. The roster provides the name, date of commission, date of rank, and description of force (eg. line, riflemen, or light infantry). The officers are listed in the register in numerical order by regiment then by rank (colonel, first lieutenant, second lieutenant, etc.). Included are rosters for the 1st-76th Regiment and the 175th Regiment.
