Scope and content:

Montgomery County (Va.) Land Grants, 1808 and 1819. The collection contains a land grant to Jacob Hevener, 1819 Oct. 30; and a land grant to Jonathan Reid, 1808 Mar. 15.

Biographical / historical:

Montgomery County was named for Richard Montgomery, who was killed in the American assault on Quebec late in 1775. It was formed from Fincastle County in 1776, and parts of Botetourt and Pulaski Counties were added later.

Acquisition information:
The Robert Alonzo Brock Collection was filmed by The Huntington Library in cooperation with The Library of Virginia with funding provided by The Library of Virginia Foundation with the support of The Roller-Bottimore Foundation and The Robins Foundation. Microfilm received 15 April 2004.
