Chesterfield County (Va.) Public Buildings and Grounds, 1805-1807, 1842. The materials consist of plans, specifications, orders, reports, and a bond for various public buildings. Included are a floor plan, specifications, and an order for an addition to the courthouse (1805); specifications and a bond for construction of a jail (1807), and floor plan, elevations, and detail drawings, a report, specifications, and an order for the construction of a jail building (1842).

Of particular note are the drawings for the 1842 jail structure. These watercolor elevations and detail drawings are well-executed and signed by David Bissett.

Biographical / historical:

Chesterfield County was formed in 1749 from Henrico County.
