Amherst County (Va.) Public Buildings and Grounds, 1808-1823, undated. The materials consists of specifications and an architectural plan for the clerk's office (1808-1809); specifications and an architectural drawing (1808) for and a report on (1823) the jail; and plans for a tobacco warehouse on the Tye River (undated). The specifications give dimensions and building materials for the structures. The report gives similar information but the reporting committee also calls for the appointment of a superintendent to oversee the jail's construction. The tobacco warehouse drawing gives some dimension and shows a large yard surrounded by rooms for reception, scales, and picking.
