Background

Scope and content:

This collection contains 58 newsletters and a series of undated photographs. Newsletters were published by Aileen Inc. concerning company and employee activities throughout the company's various locations.

Biographical / historical:

Aileen Inc. was founded in 1948 to manufacture clothing and other textiles. At its height, the company operated 144 retail outlet stores and at least 15 manufacturing plants. This included local plants in New Market, Strasburg, Woodstock, and Edinburg which was the company's primary manufacturing site. The company filed for bankruptcy and closed all operations in 1994.

These newsletters were retained by Marion Tisinger, father of Connie Richey.

Donated by Connie Richey, February 2 2022.
Processing information:

Newsletters were donated in a stack, photographs in a zip lock bag.

Items were rehoused and foldered. Photographs were placed in appropriate sleeves.

All material were placed into a single, clamshell document box.

Arrangement:

Arranged in chronological order based on the publication date of the newsletters. Undated items are in the rear of the collection.
