Surry County, VA Historical Society and Museums, Inc. has a collection of research materials, including books, maps, and loose papers on file that offer information mainly from Colonial times to the present, with some earlier material. Surry County is located across the James River from Jamestown and Williamsburg, and was used and visited by early Jamestown settlers for farming and settlement. Our Courthouse has many early records, and we have several historic places in our county. We can help with some research that is requested by email, letters, and phone calls, and people do come to us to do research through our materials. We do not have our items digitalized for research online.
