Levin Moreau was Frenchman who settled in New Jersey as a refugee from Bonaparte. He later anglicized his name and moved to Granville after the War of 1812 where he married and had a family. His descendents moved to Upshur County where during the Civil War, a Lorenzo Moore enlisted in the 10th. WV late in the war serving in the Wilderness and at Petersburg where he was wounded.
