Includes series of Papers of Deborah Gordon, Miscellaneous, Genealogy Records, Pamphlet and Ledgers, Artifacts, and Oversize.</p><p><emph render="bold">Series 1. Papers of Deborah Gordon; ca. 1950-1959; two unfoldered items, box 1, folders 1-4.</emph> Includes printed and other material of the Order of Rainbow, a youth Christian organization. Also includes picture of Deborah Gordon (Corder) with her husband Jack Corder, a West Virginia University (WVU) basketball player (1959), and her diploma (1958). See also "artifacts" series for additional Order of Rainbow material; see also "oversize" series for scrapbook.</p><p><emph render="bold">Series 2. Miscellaneous; ca. 1924-1945; box 1, folder 5.</emph> Includes miscellaneous genealogy related material and World War II ration papers ("War Ration Book One").</p><p><emph render="bold">Series 3. Genealogy Records; ca. 1918-1938; box 2, folders 1-2.</emph> Includes information regarding William Norris of Cheat Neck (settled 1781); also includes information on George Baker, George Norris, Addison S. Pamphlet and Ledgers; ca. 1910-1937; box 2, folders 3-4.</emph> Includes "Stories of West Virginia for Boys and Girls" authored by Sylvia Soupart (1937); and general store personal account ledgers, one of which is labeled "Cheat Haven" (ca. 1910-1930).</p><p><emph render="bold">Series 5. Artifacts; ca. 1910-1920, 1950-1960; box 3.</emph></p><p>Includes silver hand mirror owned by Louise Euwer Gordon in art nouveau style with inscribed initials "LEG" (ca. 1910-1920). LEG was the mother of James Raney Gordon; his wife was Mary C. Dickinson.</p><p>There are also includes Order of Rainbow artifacts, including ribbons and plastic gavel (ca. 1950-1960).</p><p><emph render="bold">Series 6. Oversize; ca. 1910-1965; box 4, and oversize folder.</emph></p><p>Box 4 includes a copy of the yearbook, "Trail", for Coronado High School of Scottsdale, Arizona, dating from 1965.</p><p>Box 4 also includes large scrapbook created by Deborah Gordon documenting West Virginia University athletic events (she was a cheerleader), travel, and special events and activities; it contains photographs, clippings, and ephemera (ca. 1950-1960). See also series 1.</p><p>Box 4 also includes three leaves of a scrapbook kept by Mary Dickinson Gordon that include: photos of oil being shipped between Pittsburgh and Morgantown (1938) (James Raney Gordon worked for Gulf Oil); school grade cards for Mary Dickinson Gordon from Oak Grove School in Union District, Monongalia County (1916-1918), and from Morgantown High School (1920-1921, 1923-1924); and a few World War I era postcards.</p><p>The oversize folder contains original copies of newspapers, including:</p><p>The Gazette Times, Pittsburgh, November 1, 1915 (includes World War I coverage).</p><p>The Stars and Stripes, France, Friday, June 21, 1918 (regarding World War I).</p><p>Pittsburgh Sun Telegraph, "Special Flood Supplement", March 29, 1936.</p><p>The oversize folder also contains a photocopy of a newspaper:</p><p>Daily New Dominion, Morgantown, Vol. 1, No. 1, Tuesday, September 7, 1897</p><p>Includes front page article regarding the sixth President of West Virginia University, Jerome Hall Raymond, who served from 1897-1901.</p>  </scopecontent>
