    <head>Biographical / Historical</head>
<p>Freya Stark was an author who wrote of her exploration of the Middle East through several travel books, an autobiography, and many volumes of letters. She is credited as the first Westerner to travel throughout the Middle East. She was born in Paris,France in January 31, 1893, spent her childhood in Italy, studied in England, and died in Italy on May 9, 1993.</p>  </bioghist>
