    <head>Biographical / Historical</head>
<p>Literacy for Life was founded as an Adult SKills Program in 1975 by William and Mary. It later became a United Way agency in 1979. Currently, the organization is an independent 501(c)3 organization that seeks to increase adult literacy in the Williamsburg area.</p>  </bioghist>
