This collection contains a substantial record of the administrative aspects of the Alumni Band Organization (ABO). Although the bulk of the records are related to this aspect of the ABO, the records are incomplete in several areas. However, the organization is in the process of collecting their records for donation to the University Archives and these gaps will likely be filled in the future. The records of the group are exhaustive in regards to the newsletters published by the group. However, the concert programs, photographs, and assorted ephemera are also incomplete at this time.

Acc. 2010.142 contains clippings, correspondence, membership rosters, policies and procedures, and line formations of the Alumni Band Organization at William Mary from 1990 to 2002. These records were collected by drum major Jim Anthony.
The administrative documents of the Alumni Band Organization include paperwork related to the internal organization of the group including by-laws as well as a record of the minutes and agendas for the board meetings. There are records relating to the group's membership as well as files that give insight into how the group plans its homecoming performances. There is also substantial internal correspondence as well as financial records. The records span 27 years, but is not complete in all areas. The files related to performance planning and membership are very erratic in their coverage and include many undated pieces. The by-laws only cover the years of 1996 and 2007, although there are some undated versions as well. The internal correspondence is heaviest for the years between 1986 and 1992, with other years documented as well. The financial records are the most incomplete for the years between 1993 and 2005. The minutes and agendas are most complete from the late 1980s.
This series represents part of the public face of the Alumni Band Organization (ABO). The bulk of this series are the newsletters and public mailings the group sends to its members as well as concert programs. Although the records span the years 1970 through 2007, they only represent the years of 1970, 2001, 2004, 2006, and 2007. The records are from shows conducted by Charles Varner as well as performances either put on or sponsored by the ABO. There are also some undated photographs as well as assorted ephemera that includes sheet music, a sticker, and a parking permit. The newsletters cover quite effectively the years the group was publishing.
