    <head>Scope and Contents</head>
<p>Photo album, containing 12 photographs (2"x3 ") depicting whales, their slaughter and processing on a New England beach around the turn of the century. It is not clear, whether the whales were hunted or accidentally got stranded.
Shown are numerous dead whales on the beach, whale slaughter and the subsequent work done on parts of the whales, which might be the boiling of blubber. Pictured are workmen as well as onlookers,posing with the dead whales. 
The last page of the album is stamped Carey E. Melville, 16 Isabella St. Worcester, Massachusetts.</p>  </scopecontent>
