    <head>Biographical Information:</head>
<p>Martha Virginia Carter Brent of Rectortown, Virginia attended the College of William in Mary in 1925-1927 along with her sister Nancy Carter. While a student, she was a member of Phi Mu, Gamma Alpha chapter. She married Lawrence Brent. <p>Martha Brent's Phi Mu pin and framed initiation certificate are described and housed in the University Archives Artifact Collection (UA 13). The Colonial Echo yearbooks from 1926 and 1927 were moved to the yearbook collection.</p>  </separatedmaterial>

    <head>Scope and Contents</head>
<p>The collection of Martha Carter Brent includes her scrapbook from her time as a student at the College of William and Mary as well as student handbooks (1925, 1926) and other College publications. She was commonly known as Mattie Carter as a student. The scrapbook includes news clippings, dance cards, photographs, and similar items documenting campus activities including athletics, dances, her sorority Phi Mu, other campus activities, as well as information about family and friends including photographs of her home, family, and friends and announcements of her marriage to Lawrence Brent. The scrapbook also includes a certification card and photograph of her involvement in the Home Hygiene and Care of the Sick of the Red Cross.</p>  </scopecontent>
