    <head>Biographical / Historical</head>
<p>Jane Archer Culbertson (1865-1940) was born on January 31, 1865 in Pennsylvania and attended Hanover Collge. Culbertson was a teacher at a school in Bangkok in 1890, when the diary was written. Her husband was Glenn Culbertson (1868-1927) born on February 3, 1863, who worked as headmaster of that school. In her diary, Culbertson detailed her experiences traveling to Bangkok, as well as her work as a teacher. She also documented her husband's work and events that occured near the school. Jane Culbertson died on February 2, 1940 and Glenn Culbertson died on April 23, 1927.</p>  </bioghist>

<p>The collection contains 1 diary written by Jane Archer Culbertson. It describes her time working as a teacher in Bangkok and her travel from San Francisco to Bangkok. The diary dates from 1890. A handwritten note entitled a Royal Sport is also included.</p>  </scopecontent>
