    <head>Biographical / Historical</head>
<p>George W. Erving was a British born political operative. Erving worked with Samuel Adams. This letter indicates that Erving travelled Virginia to poll Norfolk, Richmond, and Fredericksburg before the election of 1800. In this letter, which was preseumably written back to Massachusetts, Erving conlcuded that the Jerffersonians would win the election.</p>  </bioghist>
