    <head>Biographical / Historical</head>
<p><persname>Virginia Elizabeth Snow</persname> was from <geogname>Lawrenceville, VA</geogname>, and, per her family, loved her time at Westhampton College where she attended between 1925 and 1929. After graduation in 1929, she taught Latin at a coal mining village near <geogname>Beckley, WV</geogname>, as they paid 3 times more than what she could make in <geogname>Virginia</geogname>. She used some of that money to help her brother, <persname>John Edward <famname>Snow</famname></persname> (Jack) complete his undergraduate (<date>1931</date>) and law degrees at the University of Richmond. Their father had died in <date>1927</date>, leaving the family strapped, but savings enabled them to finish school. Virginia married <persname>Howard Robertson Richardson</persname>. After he retired, he became a professor at <corpname>Elon University</corpname> where Virginia enjoyed working in the library. Howard's mementoes and diploma are in the archives at <corpname>William and Mary</corpname> and Elon.</p> </bioghist>
