      <head>Scope and Content</head>
      <p>This collection consists of seventeen sheets of measured
         architectural drawings of two historic buildings in 
         <geogname>Scottsville, Virginia</geogname>, produced for the 
         <corpname>Historic American Buildings Survey</corpname>in 1990
         by the architectural students of the 
         <corpname>University of Virginia</corpname>under the direction
         of 
         <persname>Professor K. Edward Lay</persname>of the 
         <corpname>School of Architecture</corpname>.</p>
      <p>The 
         <corpname>Barclay House</corpname>, Main Street, Scottsville,
         Albemarle County, Virginia, was built between 1836-1837 by 
         <persname>Daniel P. Perkins</persname>, and was subsequently
         purchased by Dr. 
         <persname>James Turner Barclay</persname>who moved there from
         Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. Barclay founded The Disciples
         Church next door to his house and was its first minister. He
         also served as a missionary to Jerusalem and an inventor for
         the United States Mint. The home was measured and drawn by 
         <persname>Brian Ambroziak</persname>, 
         <persname>Salvatore Canciello</persname>, and 
         <persname>Marc Roehrle</persname>(9 sheets).</p>
      <p>The 
         <corpname>Jeffries-Bruce House</corpname>, Harrison Street,
         Scottsville, Virginia, was built about 1838 on a rise above
         the James River. It was measured and drawn by 
         <persname>Shayn Bjornholm</persname>, 
         <persname>Courtney Newcomer</persname>, 
         <persname>Patricia Sherwood</persname>, and 
         <persname>Alice Bojanowski</persname>(8 sheets).</p>
