    <head>Scope and Contents</head>
<p>This collection contains three letters. One, dated March 7, 1863 written in Caroline County, Va. to Col. Boteler gives Jackson's theories of recommending soldiers for promotion. A second, which is dated Mar. 11, 1854 from Lexington, Va. to E.H.J. McCampbell, concerns Jackson resigning from the Franklin Society and Library Company of Lexington.  The third letter, dated June 7, 1858, to Prof. J.L. Campbell describes the operation of the Lexington Colored Sabbath School.</p>  </scopecontent>
