Biographical Note

Robert Hanson Fleming was a midshipman in the Confederate States of America, assigned to the steamship Patrick Henry.

Scope and Contents

This collection contains the diary of Robert H. Fleming dated March 28-May 16, 1865. The diary describes Fleming's flight to Augusta, Ga. after the fall of Richmond, guarding the specie of the Confederate treasury. A typed transcription is available. There is also a furlough permit dated May 2, 1865 that is signed by Commandant William H. Parker.
