    <head>Biographical / Historical</head>
<p>James Smith Ferebee was born in 1906 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He graduated from VMI in 1927. He was a sportman (golf and skeet), insurance executive, and a member of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. Ferebee died in 1988.</p>  </bioghist>
