    <head>Biographical / Historical</head>
<p>George Philip Cowles Rumbough was born in 1834 in Lynchburg, Virginia. He graduated VMI in 1856. During the Civil War he was a staff officer with the Confederate States of America. After the War, he was a civil engineer and State Engineer of Arkansas. Rumbough died in 1916 in Little Rock, Arkansas.</p>  </bioghist>
