    <physdesc id="aspace_Physical Status" label="Condition Description">Daguerreotypes are in varying conditions. Actual images are in good condition, several of the cases are broken at the hinges. Paint on the outside of the cases is chipping and flaking off the cases. Strong vinegar smell lingering from being stored with deteriorating 8mm film for an unknown amount of time.</physdesc>

<p>The J. M. P. Atkinson daguerreotype was gifted by Mrs. W. S. McNiell. It is unknown how the other daguerreotypes were acquired.</p>  </acqinfo>
