Note from seller
Seven quarter plate daguerreotypes were originally framed together with a hand-written calligraphic label inditifying the students, all members of either the Union or Philanthropic Literary Societies. Photo Credit to G. W. Minnis of Petersburgh, VA, dated June 12, 1851. The images and the label were originally found in an uncased pile of bare daguerreotype plates.

One additional daguerreotype is also included with the collection, provenance unknown, in one half of a photo case dated 1851.
 </scopecontent>
