    <head>Bio/Historical Note</head>
<p>Lois Ann Hogan Everett lived in Lynchburg, Virginia before enrolling at Madison College in the fall of 1953. Everett transferred to East Carolina University in 1955. She graduated from East Carolina University in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in primary education. During the second semester of her freshman year at Madison College, Everett was inducted into the German Dance Club and the Modern Dance Club.</p>  </bioghist>

    <head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>The Lois Hogan Everett Papers, 1953-1955, contain a Madison College homecoming program, admissions publications, essay, and other event programs collected by Lois Hogan Everett during her time as a student at Madison College. The following items comprise the collection: a brochure entitled "Thinking of Going to College" (Vol. XII, No. 3) published by the Madison College Office of Admissions, a 1955 Homecoming program, a 1953 Madison College bulletin entitled "After High School What," a program for the 1955 Madison College Graduate Program in Music Education at the Virginia Music Camp at Massanetta Springs, a printed slip of paper bearing the lyrics to the Madison College "Alma Mater" and "Blue-Stone Hill," and a May 6, 1955 issue of <emph render="italic">The Breeze</emph>. A copy of Everett's October 1953 essay entitled "My First Day at Madison," which she wrote for her English class and received an A-, is included. In this essay, Everett recounts her initial apprehension about attending Madison College and how she was made to feel welcome and comfortable on campus.</p>  </scopecontent>
