Mattie E. Leath of Nottoway Courthouse, Virginia was born in 1880 to George E. and Laura Leath. Leath attended then State Female Normal School in Farmville, Virginia from 1897 to 1898. In 1905, she married Purnie H. Jenkins.

 Custodial History

The items in this collection, which relate to Mattie Leath during her time as a student at State Female Normal School, were acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when this collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.
