      <head>Biographical Information
</head>
      <p>As a Professor of Architecture and Urban Design and Planning at the University of Washington, Sharon E. Sutton taught community-based research studios and evaluated the relationship and youth, culture and the environment. She is the Director of CEED (Center for Environment, Education, and Design Studies) and was funded by the Aspen Institute to investigate how race effects community development. Since 1975 Sutton has taught at various Universities including the Pratt Institute, Columbia University, and the University of Michigan, where she became the first African American woman to become a full professor in an accredited architectural degree program. While at the University of Michigan, Sutton established the Urban Network which is the basis for Sutton's latest book, <title xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:type="simple" render="italic" xlink:href="">Weaving a Tapestry of Resistance: The Places, Power and Poetry of a Sustainable Society.</title></p>
