Biographical Information

Georgeta Gabrea was born November 12, 1953 in Bucharest. She studied architecture at
"Ion Mincu" Institute of Architecture focusing on the history of Romanian
architecture. Gabrea graduated in 1978 and began her practice in "Metroul"
Enterprise (1978-1986) where she designed underground subway stations for the new
metro in Bucharest and several apartment buildings. Thereafter, she joined "Project
Bucuresti" Design Institute (1986-94) where she collaborated with Venera
Trisnevschi-Geta for the Bucharest Municipal Library, the "Boema" Musical theatre,
and the sports complex at the Country Club. In 1992 Georgeta Gabrea and Venera
Trisnevschi-Geta, with several young architects and planners, formed the private
company "Capitel" Ltd. offering architectural, urban design, land development, and
real-estate services.
