    <head>Biographical Note</head>
<p>The document does not provide much information about P. W. Pugh. However, there is a Philip William Pugh (1837-1908), born in Hardy County, Virginia [now West Virginia], and died in Broadway, Rockingham County, Virginia, buried in Broadway Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Philip Pugh fought in the American Civil War for the Confederacy, and afterwards he served as a merchant in Rockingham County, Virginia. His father Hannibal Pugh (1791-1866) is buried in Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield, Hardy County, West Virginia. </p><p>Sources:
