    <head>Biographical Note</head>
<p>Robert Edward Minshall (1889-1958) of Piedmont, West Virginia, graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in civil engineering in 1913. He earned his master's from Penn State, where he worked as a civil engineering profesor until his retirement in 1953. He served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Coast Artillery Corps during World War I. Minshall married Nina Virginia Shuey, and the couple had three children.</p>  </bioghist>

    <head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>The Robert Edward Minshall Papers contain VPI photographs and programs from 1909 to 1943. There are about 30 photographs and postcards, which depict campus, Castle Rock, the Corps of Cadets, Price Hall, Cascades, the 1943 campus flood, VPI walkway, Academic Building no. 1, "Uncle Bill" Witt, and pictures from the 1909 football team. The following football players are identified: Coach Bocock, V.B. Hodgson, A.N. Hodgson, [H.E.] Billups, [W.B.]  Davis, [T.P.] Hicks, [J.L.] Hughes, H.G. Jones, [E.R.] Norris, [J.T.] Luttrell, and [A.G.] Gibbs. Additionally, there are two programs from the Class of 1913 Annual Sophmore Banquet and VPI 1913 Commencement.</p>  </scopecontent>
