    <head>Historical Note</head>
<p>Brady Studio, owned by photographer Mathew Brady (1823-1896), was established in Washington, D.C. Before the outbreak of the Civil War, Brady made daguerreotypes of influential politicians of his day. During the Civil War, Brady organized a team of photographers and documented the war, producing thousands of images before its end.</p>  </bioghist>

<p>The collection contains an albumen print depicting Tad and Abraham Lincoln reviewing a book. The image is 5-1/2" by 7-1/4' and is mounted on a larger piece of cardboard. The original image was taken at Brady Studios on February 9, 1864.</p>  </scopecontent>
