<p>The collection consists of a claim for damages by John Filtzmoyer dated April 14, 1865. Filtzmoyer of Shenandoah County, Va., charges the Confederate Government $685.50 for his damaged and lost property due to White's Battalion of Virginia Cavalry and the 12th Regiment of Virginia Cavalry camping on his property during Sheridan's Valley Campaign. The claim includes specific details about wooden rails that were taken and pasture lands grazed. Filtzmoyer had two neighbors sign the claim as witnesses.</p> </scopecontent>
