    <head>Administrative History</head>
<p>During the American Civil War, on February 26, 1861 the Confederate Congress created the position of Quartermaster General. Comprising the rest of the quartermaster bureau were six majors and a colonel.     <head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>This collection contains three documents from the Confederate Quartermaster Generals Office during the American Civil War: </p><p>A letter dated Sept 30, 1864, is written on official office stationary and mentions finished accounts that have been left at the office for further adjustments.</p><p>An invoice of Quartermaster's stores, dated Nov 1, 1862, lists various cookery items, like kettles and pots, to be turned over to Captain G.A. Wallace for "Camp of Paroled Prisoners."</p><p>An invoice dated March 31, 1864, lists a purchase made on February 17 for 105 bushels of corn for $420. </p>  </scopecontent>
