The inside cover states, "Account of expenditures from the 3rd of October 1839 in our philanthropic efforts to diffuse useful knowledge throughout the States of Ohio and Kentucky." Only 8 pages have writing, including a receipt from Mechanics Bank of New York, Feb. 22, 1838, for $55.00.</p>  </scopecontent>
