<p>The processing and description of the Robert Edmiston Inventory commenced and was completed in April 2021.</p><p>This item had long been identified as the Robert Edminton Inventory, but a closer inspection in 2021 revealed the name to be Edmiston.</p>  </processinfo>

    <head>Biographical Note</head>
<p>Robert Edmiston appears in the 1810 census as a resident of Washington County, Virginia. A Robert Edmiston married Mary Glenn in Washington County in 1793.</p>  </bioghist>

    <head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>This collection consists of a single document appraising the values of enslaved persons and lands held by Robert Edmiston, of Washington County, Virginia. The inventory lists an enslaved man and woman, both aged between 12 and 50 years, and an enslaved boy and girl, both aged less than 12 years. The inventory also lists a 207-acre farm and a 120-acre farm, with a description of the dwelling houses and outbuildings on each.</p>  </scopecontent>
