    <head>Biographical Note - Edward A. Hancock</head>
<p>Edward Alexander Hancock (1911-1988) was a professor of English at Virginia Polytechnic Institute from 1946-1978. He graduated with an A. B. from Davidson College in 1933 and an M. A. from the University of Virginia in 1948. Hancock was born in West Virginia to Charles B. <p>Herbert Faulkner West (1898-1974) graduated from Dartmouth College in 1922 and 1924 and taught there until his retirement in 1964.
