<p>On April 3, 1848 the General Assembly passed an act authorizing the governor to purchase vacant lots adjoining Capitol Square. On March 29, 1851 the General Assembly passed another act for the same purpose.

This series consists of vouchers for the state's purchase of a lot on Governor Street. The vouchers include the names to whom money was owed, the amounts, and the dates the vouchers were submitted.
