      <p>Chesterfield County was named for Philip Dormer Stanhope, fourth earl of Chesterfield, British statesman and diplomat, and was formed from Henrico County in 1749.

      <p>Chesterfield County Deeds, 1806-1877. The collection contains 16 deeds, as follows: between James H. Cox and Alfred Woodridge, 1872 Aug. 30; between James H. Cox and Martha R. his wife on the one part and the Clover Hill Rail Road Company of the second part, 1869 June 8; between R.B. Hobson and Augustine Royall and H.W. Branford, 1877 Oct. 15; between the Clover Hill Rail Road Company and James H. Cox 1869 June 8; between Walter B. Clarke and R.L. Walker, 1866 Jan. 6; between Walter G. Clarke and Joel E. Taylor 1865 Nov. 9; between Jordan Anderson and Moncure Robinson 1843 July 29; between Philip L. Johnson and Edward A. Johnson 1860 July 9; between Walter G. Clarke on the first part and and R. L. Walker and William B. Woodbridge on the second part 1865 Dec. 21; between Philip Johnson and Lawson Nunnally 1860 Mar. 6; between James Brown and Robert Temple, 1832; between David H. Reed and John B. Crenshaw on the first part and Nathaniel P. Crenshaw on the second part 1848 June 29; between the Trustees of the town of Manchester and R.D. Hogan 1868 Feb. 17; between R.D.
