Scope and Content

Deeds, 1829-1858, for land in King and Queen County, Virginia. All deeds contain the date the deed was made and all but one contain the date recorded. All deeds involve members of the Bland, Hart, Savage, or Spencer family. Many of the deeds are related to property known as Liberty Hall which was located in King and Queen County. The deed books containing these instruments are no longer extant.

Contents List Deed, dated 26 June 1829 and recorded 14 June 1830, for 18 3/4 acres from Jacob Hart, William Hart and his wife Fanny, Elijah Watson and his wife Sally, Jacob Hart as guardian of Lucy Hart, and Banks Gibson and his wife Frances to Thomas W. Hart. Deed, dated 12 November 1832 and recorded 15 January 1833, for 200 acres, part of a tract of land called Liberty Hall, from William Armistead and his wife Lucy Ann to Weston Hart. Deed, dated 12 November 1832 and recorded 14 May 1833, for 550 acres, part of a tract of land called Liberty Hall, from William Armistead and his wife Lucy Ann to Thomas F. Spencer. Deed, dated 18 January 1833 and recorded 12 August 1833, for 200 acres, part of a tract of land called Liberty Hall, from Weston Hart and his wife Mary Ann to Thomas F. Spencer. Deed, dated 15 November 1838 and recorded 10 December 1838, for 305 acres from Edward Hart and Sterling Lipscomb and his wife Louisa from King William County to Robert Bland, Jr. Deed, dated 10 November 1844, recorded 9 December 1844, and re-recorded 29 June 1900, for 750 acres, part of a tract of land called Liberty Hall, from John Pollard and Robert M. Spencer, commissioners for the heirs of Thomas F. Spencer, to Robert Bland. Deed of gift, dated 1 January 1858 and no recordation date, 460 acres called Liberty Hall from Robert Bland to his daughter Mary C. W. Savage, wife of Thomas K. Savage.
