Abstract Or Scope

The Williams Family Papers consists of ca. 12,030 items (27 Hollinger boxes, and one oversize folder, ca. 9.7 linear shelf feet), 1798 (1802-1972)1987, correspondence, financial and legal papers, photographs, newsclippings, genealogical material, miscellaneous writings and related materials chiefly concerning the Williams family of Orange County and other Virginia locales, especially Lewis Catlett Williams, a Richmond lawyer and his son, Murat Willis Williams, United States ambassador to El Salvador. Topics of interest include: the War of 1812, slaves and slavery, the Civil War, the University of Virginia, Orange County, Virginia, life in El Salvador, Greece, Romania and other countries, Latin America, American foreign policy, Virginia and Democratic party politics, other contemporary events and family matters. Several of the Williamses are represented in this accumulation.

Papers of the Thomas Browse family documenting immigration from England to the Ohio River region in the vicinity of Ohio, western Virginia, and Kentucky (1830); farming in Pleasants County, West Virginia in the vicinity of St. Marys on the Ohio River (ca. 1830s-1900); and the acquisition of and royalties from oil lands in Pleasants County from the region of "Fish Pot" (ca. 1880s-1910). Includes diaries of Thomas Browse (1830-1878) and diaries of his daughter Mary E. Browse (1855-1910, incomplete). Also includes family papers of descendants Robert H. Browse (son) and Henry Nicholas Browse (grandson) documenting services purchased and businesses transactions conducted along the Ohio River in the region of the towns of St. Marys, New Martinsville, and Wheeling (ca. 1880-1930). There are also several maps of West Virginia lands in Pleasants and Tyler Counties (ca. 1830-1910), including oil fields in Pleasants County (ca. 1900-1920), pertaining to the business of the Browse family.

Carl E. "Chick" Larsen papers

Abstract Or Scope

The collection primarily contains Larsen's editorial and other cartoon works from his time with the Richmond Times-Dispatch. This includes final copies as well as drafts and sketches of ideas. There are also newspaper copies of many of these works, particularly his "Carrier Toons" series. The remainder of the collection is a small selection of correspondence, materials from his time as a student at Richmond Professional Institute, other professional work outside of his career as a cartoonist, and industry publications.

Across the Way Productions Inc. was founded in 2002 by Kris Hodges and Erika Johnson. The two wished to create a world music festival in Floyd, Virginia and thus Floyd Fest began in September of 2002. This collection features materials from the events Floyd Fest, Floyd Fandango, Vintage Virginia Wine and Food Festival, Virginia Wine Festival, Capital City Carnival and Microbrew Fest, Totally Rad Roanoke Star City Concert Series and The Phoenix all created by Across the Way Productions, Inc. Materials include advertising/promotional items, graphic design elements, the organization and logistics of the events, newspaper clippings, photographs, videos, live discs and mini discs of the events.

Abstract Or Scope
The Krasimira Choneva Architectural Collection includes conceptual and working drawings as well as supporting documents for six projects. The projects range in date from 1958-1994 and were all designed and completed in Bulgaria by Krasimina Choneva. The collection also includes one biographical sketch written by Choneva herself as well as an additional biography written by Milka Bliznakov in 2007.

Becker Papers include correspondence, notes, memoranda and other materials related to NACA and NASA programs with which Becker was associated, including the X-1, X-15, X-20 (or Dyna-Soar) programs; research files for The High-Speed Frontier; transcripts of oral history interviews; and copies of publications and lectures by Becker, created between 1936 and 1980.

The Policy Office Records of Governor Mark R. Warner are housed in 253 boxes. The collection is arranged into five (5) series. Series have been designated for: I. Decision Briefs; II. Regulations; III. Legislative Files; IV. Policy Analyst Files; and V. Legal Files. These records include decision briefs, correspondence, memorandums, legislative files, briefing books, subject files, reports, settlement, warrants and legal files. These records document the legislative and policy priorities of the Warner administration (2002-2006).

The Tredegar Company Records are housed in 1345 boxes, 490 volumes on shelf, 7 oversize boxes, 6 oversize map case drawers, and one rolled tube. The collection is arranged into eight (8) series. Series have been designated for: I. Administrative records; II. General Accounts; III. Production and Labor records; IV. Purchase and Receiving records; V. Sales and Shipping records; VI. Correspondence: Incoming; VII. Correspondence: Outgoing; and VIII. Anderson family papers. These records include balance books, cashbooks, contract books, correspondence, daybooks, estate accounts, family papers, insurance policies, invoices, journals, ledgers, minute books, patents, payroll ledgers, real estate files, sales books, stock certificates, suit papers, tax returns, vouchers, and war department contracts. The records document the history of one of the most important and largest iron making factories in Virginia and the Confederacy.
