Papers, 1920-1985, of Edwin Beecher Brown (b. 1937) of Staunton, Virginia, consisting of genealogical research files used in the publication of his book Descendants of James Brown (Senior) (17__-1833) Who Settled in Augusta County, Virginia Between the South River and the 'Great Road' That Ran from Waynesboro to Greenville to Lexington, Virginia. Most of the material was compiled by Rev. Durward Belmont Brown (1897-1983) of Wheeling, West Virginia. The collection contains census abstracts, correspondence, clippings, family group sheets, genealogical charts and pedigrees, obituaries, photographs, and published sources on the Brown family and the allied lines of Barnes, Cottrill, Gawthrop, Hall, Hiett, Loy, and Scranage who settled in Augusta and Frederick Counties, Virginia, and Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska, and West Virginia.

The Amaza Lee Meredith papers contain personal and business documents generated by Ms. Meredith which reflect the activities of her lifetime. Included are materials related to her career at Virginia State University, her participation in the V.S.U. Alumni Association the official records of the Azurest North Syndicate, and personal correspondence with several prominent blueprints, line drawings, and sketches of Ms. Meredith's designs which demonstrates her pursuits in architecture.

Papers, 1981-1986, consisting of historical data compiled for the Virginia Military History Program initiated in 1982 by Virginia's Department of Military Affairs, Adjutant General's Office. Includes program guidelines, historical data on Virginia Army National Guard units, including unit lineage, lists of battles and campaigns, and lists of decorations and citations. Of note is material relating to the history of the Alexandria Light Infantry. Also, consists of information about Virginia National Guard units mobilized for the Spanish-American War, World War I, and World War II, a list of medals and ribbons Virginia awards its National Guardsmen, and material on Rockbridge County's military history.

The records of the Virginia Guardsman are organized into three series with series designated for General Files, Publications, and Photographs. These records represent the work of Bernard H. Baylor, Editor of the Virginia Guardsman between 1925 and 1939. Baylor also served as Assistant to the Adjutant General beginning in 1925. The collection contains correspondence, memos, forms, photographs, publications, magazines, regulations, notes, and receipts.

The club was founded in 1900 after similar clubs in Newburyport, Massachusetts (also called the "Fortnightly Club") and the "Conversation Club" of Louisville, Kentucky.

Staunton (Va.) Naturalization Records, 1906-1910, consists of Department of Commerce and Labor, Division of Naturalization, Petition and Record, 1906-1910, a standardized volume of naturalization records issued by the federal government. There were two primary types of naturalization volumes issued by the federal government: Declaration of Intention volumes and Petition volumes. Oftentimes, applicants were documented in both of these volume types within a locality, but that is not always the case. An applicant may have entered their declaration of intention in one locality before moving and completing their naturalization petition elsewhere.
