Papers, 1788-1846, of the Jones family of Dinwiddie and Chesterfield Counties, and Petersburg, Virginia, consisting of personal and business correspondence to and from Joseph Jones (1749-1824), Thomas Jones (1781-1866), and Joseph Jones (1787-1847), discussing land and property in Virginia and Kentucky, education of children, politics, militia musters, agriculture, and inheritances. Includes: deeds, accounts, lists of slaves and livestock, powers of attorney, bonds, promissory notes, agreements, memorandums, and songs.

The Radka Pavlova Architectural Drawings consists of a portfolio, original drawings, resume, clippings and photocopies.The material reflects Pavlova's broad experience, which varies from the design of master plans, urban design, interior design, design of schools, cultural centers, hotels, restaurants, housing, libraries, business centers, commercial centers, etc. The drawings cover several aspects of Pavlova's design activity in different periods. It starts with the project of Park Kenana dated 1964 and ends with the project of the Commercial center in Blagoevgrad designed in 1986 and completed in 1999.

Norfolk (Va.), Building Inspection Office, Architectural drawings and plans, 1898-1980

Abstract Or Scope

This accession consists of the surviving architectural drawings and plans submitted to the City of Norfolk, Building Inspection Office during the building permit application procedure between 1898 and 1980. A building permit was required for alterations and new construction. The structures documented include apartment buildings, banks, churches, commercial buildings, fraternal society buildings, garages, hospitals, hotels, municipal and state government buildings, office buildings, schools, service stations, single and multi-family residences, synagogues, and the like. Of note are drawings for breweries, lard factories, baseball grandstands, bowling alleys, bakeries, fraternal halls, and oyster packaging plants.

Virginia Folklore Society records (1913-1967; 22.7 cubic feet) consist chiefly of songs collected by the society's fieldworkers in the 1930s under the direction of society archivist Arthur Kyle Davis. Sheet music, folklore, newsletters and photographs are also included, as are recordings of many of the songs.

The first part of the collection has sixteen law student notebooks created by John C. McCoid II during his law study at Vanderbilt University between 1950 and 1953. The addendum, received in 2016, contains a University of Virginia report regarding the admission of women in 1968, and some correspondence regarding the recruitment of African American faculty members in 1972, and teaching materials.

This collection consists of thrity-three reproductions of historical photos, taken in 1910, of employees and people who were in charge of different departments of what was then called the Bureau of Chemistry, now the Food and Drug Administration. In addition to these reproductions, there is a memorandum to the FDA Leadership Council (2006?) about the centennial anniversary, with some historical facts and photocopies of past commemorative documents.
