Two scrapbooks of newspaper clippings and two volumes of typed copies of correspondence written by Guy Despard Goff (September 13, 1866 - January 7, 1933), son of Nathan Goff, Jr. (1843-1920). Guy D. Correspondence includes one collection and one bound volume of letters written during Goff's time as a colonel in the American Expeditionary Forces (1 3/4 inches, 1918-1920). Topics include Goff's work in the military, his travels in France and Germany, and his observations on the political, economic, and social conditions in post-World War I Europe. Please note, the bound volume of letters is identical to the volume in A&M 17. For more information on the correspondence, please see the Scope and Content note.

Content Warning

ARVAS is an aggregator of archival resources. ARVAS does not have control of the descriptive language used in our members’ finding aids.

Finding aids may contain historical terms and phrases, reflecting the shared attitudes and values of the community from which they were collected, but are offensive to modern readers. These include demeaning and dehumanizing references to race, ethnicity, and nationality; enslaved or free status; physical or mental ability; religion; sex; and sexual orientation and gender identity.

Many institutions and organizations are in the process of reviewing and revising their descriptive language, with the intent to describe materials in more humanizing, inclusive, and harm-reductive ways. As members revise their descriptive language, their changes will eventually be reflected in their ARVAS finding aids.
