Edward L. Moreland and Robert W. Dickey correspondence, 1946

This collection is comprised of two letters and an accompanying photograph written between Edward L. Moreland of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Robert W. Dickey of the Physics Department at Washington and Lee University in the fall of 1946. The subject of the correspondence is a photograph of an experimental foot X-ray performed by Edward L. Moreland's father, Sydney T. Moreland while a professor at Washington and Lee University in 1896. The X-ray was of the foot of Lexington, Virginia resident Elizabeth "Lily" Carter Coles. In his response letter to Edward Moreland, Dickey commends Sydney T. Moreland for his pioneer work on X-rays in the South. The accompanying photograph of the X-ray was taken by Lexington, Virginia photographer Michael Miley also in 1896.
