Correspondence among James Pindall, Daniel Boardman, Phineas Chapin, and William Hacker, respecting Boardman's ejectment suits for land in Lewis Co., (W Va.)

Six letters to Boardman at Broadway, New York City, regarding ejectment suits and the sale of his land along French and Hacker creeks, Lewis Co., (W)Va. Three letters are written by James Pindall, Congressman, and Boardman's counsel, from Washington City and Clarksburg, (W )Va. Other correspondents are William Hacker, Job Thayer, and Robert Young, of French Creek settlement, a New Englander who was ejected from I Boardman's land, and who pleads the case for his countryman, who "will cultivate the mountains," Whereas "Virginians will not settle on it as they want Bottom Land."

This collection consists of the papers of Dr. Daniel Crump Buchanan on Japanese culture with some information on China, Korea, and other Asian countries generally organized by subject. The files on Japanese culture and history are arranged alphabetically by subject. They contain some significant memos and position papers on propaganda and psychological warfare against Japan during World War II. Other files on similar themes include "Espionage," "Target Operations", and "Reorientation." Also included are manuscripts of Dr. Buchanan's published works, printed matter from Dr. Buchanan's time in Japan, uncataloged published books and pamphlets in Japanese, and Japanese language and calligraphy cards, playing cards and tokens.

Actual-size facsimile of Daniel Decatur Emmett's original manuscript of the music and lyrics for the song "Dixie's Land". Emmett composed the song in 1859. The facsimile was created by George Bird Evans, the owner of the original manuscript, circa 1960-1961. The facsimile also includes historical notes by Evans.
