Collections

This collection includes early Washington and Lee University papers and miscellaneous materials supplementary to the university's trustee's records, faculty meeting minutes, and treaurer's records. Much of this collection was found over decades from various locations on campus and housed in the Treasurer's Office.

Administrative files, 1941-1972, of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. The collection is housed in 197 boxes and includes administrative files, building files, clippings, correspondence, and general ledgers. The collection is arranged into six series, Series I: Papers of G.W. James, Executive Assistant to the Commissioner and Publicity Director; Series II: General Ledgers; Series III: Correspondence of the Commissioner of the D.M.V.; Records of Buildings, Operations and Maintenance; Papers of W.B. Henshaw, Director of the Bureau of Registration and Title Records; and Papers of the Commissioner of D.M.V.

Administrative files, 1948-1977 (bulk 1960-1973), include correspondence, board excerpts, brochures, budgets, conference materials, planning documentation, project and program documentation, reports, and standards. Some topics include public assistance, college and university social work programs, adult and child services, volunteers, the Virginia Social Welfare Manpower Project and the Virginia Uniform Welfare Reporting System.

Administrative Files, 1960-1978, include correspondence and subject files related to the Division of Field Services.

The Administrative Management Society files consist of Public Information and NOMA scrapbooks (1960-1969), early miscellaneous information (1941-1970) and the President's files (1981-1987).

Papers of Admiral Thomas J. Lopez of the United States Navy. Includes biographical and historical information, speeches, correspondence, media, artifacts, and awards and framed items.
