Business, political, and official correspondence of the eleventh governor, 1901-1905, of West Virginia. Owner and editor of the State Journal, Parkersburg, 1881-1899, White was associated with many banking and manufacturing enterprises, and was tax commissioner of West Virginia in 1907 and 1908, collector of internal revenues in 1889, 1897, and 1921, and a Republican member of the legislature in 1926. Among the correspondents are G.W. Atkinson, Waitman T. Barbe, Calvin Coolidge, John J. Cornwell, H.G. Davis, Thomas B. Davis, W.M.O. Dawson, Alston G. Dayton, Davis Elkins, Stephen B. Elkins, Guy D. Goff, Howard M. Gore, M.A. Hanna, Henry D. Hatfield, William McKinley, A.W. Mellon, E.F. Morgan, H.C. Ogden, N.B. Scott, Hugh I. Shott, Joseph P. Smith, George C. Sturgiss, and I.C. White.

Papers of Albert Moore Reese, Sr, longtime zoology professor at West Virginia University. This collection includes WVU memorabilia, books and reprints by Albert Moore Reese, and photos of Reese and Reese's spelunking trips, and clippings of articles by Reese and others.

These papers contain some correspondence of General John R. Kenly concerning his Civil War career and his book on the War with Mexico and includes a copy of a letter from General Burnside. There are also two newspaper articles, one on the Baltimore fire of 1904 and the other on the USS Constitution.

Correspondence of A.M. Reese, former professor of Zoology at West Virginia University dealing with venom of snakes, lethal doses, and some antidotes. Most of the letters regard the swallowing of young snakes by their mother for protection. Other subjects include an experiment with rats and traps and unusual animal foods of man. There is also a reprint of "Habits of the Menopoma."

Certificates of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, 1922, and the War Production Board, 1945, awarded to A.M. Reese; also a program of the Flag Day services held in Morgantown, June 18, 1944.

An 1808-1809 journal with descriptions of travels in Ireland and Scotland and of Campbell's voyage to America. Specific mention is made of weather conditions, fish, birds, food rations, and quarantine of the ship on its arrival at New York City. Collection contains notes for and a list of sermons preached (1810-1814) by Campbell in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

The last will and testament of Alexander Campbell, leaving his estate to his children and grandchildren with the stipulation that each contribute a specific amount to Bethany College.

Includes 88 glass plate negatives documenting subjects from Grafton and Taylor County, West Virginia from circa 1890-1925. Subjects include farming scenes, classrooms and schools, stores, bridges, tunnels, railroads, bands, rivers, home and town scenes, saw mills, industry, and churches and cemeteries. Four boxes contain the original glass plate negatives while one box contains the original sleeves for the negatives, including identifying information where present. Digitized copies of the glass plate negatives are available.
