The Nell Blaine Collection, 1945-1999, is significant because the collection provides foundational research materials on Nell Blaine's career and contribution to American art. The three most common materials in the collection are articles and newspaper clippings, exhibition brochures, and correspondence from Nell Blaine.

The collection consists of manuscripts submitted for the New Virginia Review, Volumes I and V; correspondence between contributors and editors; proofs representing various stages of the production process; and a number of taped readings and lectures. Included in the collection are a number of journals and books which have been marked and assimilated into the regular Special Collections small press and poetry collections.

The collection consists of the two medical ledgers (1896-1898, 1900-1905) used in Wright's practice. The ledgers list business transactions with patients. A typical entry will include a date, a brief description of the service performed, and a dollar amount of the service. The collection does not contain any personal or other professional information.

This collection chronicles some of her accomplishments at VCU's Department of Fashion as well as glimpses into her life through correspondence to Ms. Windmueller. The collection also helps tell the story of her survival as young Jewish Woman in Nazi Germany, primarily through photographs and newspaper clippings though there are a few letters from friends and family which lend more information to this time in her life.

The Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) Richmond Chapter records documents support for and attitudes around LGBTQ+ youth in the 1990s and early 2000s in Richmond, VA, and other parts of the south. The collection also documents how various LGBTQ+ identities were understood or explained to allies and others during this time period. The collection does not contain many administrative records documenting the activities of the PFLAG Richmond Chapter.

The Patricia Fishback papers, 1973-2009, is a collection of feminist literature and materials used by Patricia Fishback during her career advocating for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in the 1970s and 1980s. The materials consist of correspondence with state officials, news clippings, ERA promotional materials, and general feminist materials. The collection provides insight into the efforts of second-wave feminists in their fight to ratify the ERA in Virginia. The bulk of the collection is comprised of materials used by Fishback while working with the ERA Ratification Council. Included are ERA promotional materials such as pamphlets, flyers, bumper stickers, petitions, and buttons. Fishback's administrative files contain copies of the ERA Ratification Council's bylaws, membership lists, and selected meeting minutes from 1982 to 1989. Copies of winning submissions to the ERA Ratification Council's essay contest are also within the collection.

The collection covers Mr. McSweeney's involvement in water issues in the Richmond area from 1958-1987. There is only one item from 1958 and the bulk of the collection ranges from 1977 to 1985. The collection particularly covers his involvement with the R.R.P.D.C., which he joined in 1977. The R.R.P.D.C. water materials cover many topics. The bulk of it concerns the Richmond-Crater 208 program, which was a coalition of Richmond and Petersburg R.R.P.D.C. members as well as private citizens concerned with water problems in the metropolitan area. The 208 program concerns Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), James River Water Quality Management Plan, and James River Water Quality Monitoring Program (both abbreviated JRWQMP), Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO), and Non-Point Source (NPS) pollution. There are also a great deal of correspondence and reports concerning the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit, a federal permit about which there is some controversy over Richmond's compliance. Materials in the collection include correspondence, notes, reports, agendas, minutes, some legal documents, publications and newspaper clippings. The newsclippings that could be identified by source, date and page and are held in the James Branch Cabell Library periodicals collection were discarded and are noted in the series listing. The correspondence is largely between Mr. McSweeney, the R.R.P.D.C. and the State Water Control Board (SWCB).

The collection contains materials relating to Dr. Nagel's professional and literary career including teaching, administration and drafts of his books. The bulk of the collection relates to the development, research and publication of Nagel's work on the Adams and Lee families.

Series I: Contains Dr. Pastore's written materials. Subseries A consists of the notes and drafts of articles and presentations written from the 1960s to the late 1970s. Some of the presentations and articles have photographs and medical illustrations. There is some correspondence. Subseries B consists of the research conducted on, notes, photographs, correspondence pertaining to, and drafts of, Dr. Pastore's thesis entitled "Effect of Quinine on Hearing" begun in 1937-38 to fulfill the requirements for Master of Science degree in Otolaryngology and Rhinology from the Mayo Clinic, University of Minnesota in Rochester (conferred December 1939).

This collection contains materials related to St. Philip Alumnae Association, a 1939 St. Philip graduation program, the Constituion and By-Laws of the Old Dominion Graduate Nurses Assocation, and publications related to MCV Hospital and the Department of Nursing, MCV-VCU.
