Contains a diary of an unknown soldier while stationed in Saipan during World War II. The diary begins in Februray 1945 and continues until February 1946. The diary includes descriptions of soldier life, patrols, planes shot down among others. There are drawings of Iwo Jima as well as a list of names, which may be either planes or boats around the island. Also included is a copy of The Saipan Daily Target from January 1946 featuring news from the United States and comics about the war.

McLeod-Tyler Family Papers

The McLeod-Tyler Family papers contains materials from members of the McLeod-Tyler family. Included in the collection are diaries and scrapbooks of Lieutenant John G. Tyler II during World War II, a typed transcript of a Civil War Memoir of Edward Keville Glennan; a commemorative collection of 20 battle pictures, entitled "Advance in the Pacific, New Guinea to the Philipines"; and two high school poetry anthologies, 1969-1970 to which J. Goodenow Tyler III contributed. Also included in the collection is a journal entry describing J. Goodenow Tyler III's Afghanistan Deployment journal entry and correspondence to wife Bee Andrews, later identified as Bee McLeod.

Walter L. Rau Diary

Walter L. Rau wrote this diary as a member of the World War I Battery "C" 101st Field Artillery of the American Expeditionary Force stationed in France. He also identified himself with the USFA (United States Food Administration). In the dairy, Rau mentions passing through around sixty-one cities in his service, the majority of which were located in France. Upon arrival in France, the 101st was told to report to the Front. Rau writes of running water and food drives to the trenches, digging, and driving horses with his unit. Among observations about the daily life of a solider, Rau names some of the men he knew who died, the horrors he saw, and the battles he was involved with.
