This collection contains one printed map of Porters, an unincorporated community in Albemarle County, Virginia, that was founded circa 1875. The map was created by University of Virginia student Jeida Brooks in Spring 2024 for "Mapping Black Landscapes," AMST 3710, a course taught by Dr. Lisa Goff. Brooks researched the Porters community and worked with community members to identify schools, churches, cemeteries, businesses, stores, and recreation sites vital to its African American population.

This collection contains records produced by the Board of Visitors. These records contain, but are not limited to: meeting minutes, correspondence, manuals, speeches, actions, memoranda, resolutions, materials pertaining to individual board members, and general documents.

This collection contains primary and secondary resources pertaining to Robert E. Lee and the Lee family. Included are correspondences from, to, and about Lee and various family members; memorabilia, pamphlets, photographs, reminiscences, miscellaneous personal papers, family history and genealogy. The collection includes materials acquired from the Lee family and items donated to and purchased and compiled by W&L University since Lee's tenure as president of Washington College from 1865 - 1870. Adminstrative papers, such as President's Reports, etc..., from Robert E. Lee's presidency of the school may be found within the W&L University Archives. Papers of, and relating to, Robert Lewis Dabney(1820-1898). Born in Louisa County, Virginia, Dabney was a student at Hampden-Sidney Collegeand then at the University of Virginiawhere he graduated with the M.A. degree, and finally at Union Theological Seminaryin Richmond, Virginia, where he graduated in 1846. He became a Presbyterian clergyman and was a professor at Union Theological Seminaryfrom 1853 until 1883, except for the years of the Civil War when he served as a chaplain in the Confederatearmy until becoming chief of staff to General Thomas J. Jacksonin 1862. Dabney concluded his life's work as a professor at the University of Texas, 1883-1898.

Includes Stewart's correspondence, programs that include his compositions, classroom materials, reviews and notices of his works, and materials from professorial organizations and conferences.

This collection contains black-and-white negatives, color slides, and photographic prints, taken and collected by Roy Alson, as well as a few photographs by other photographers, and some printed materials. Alson, who graduated from the University of Virginia's College of Arts and Sciences in 1974, the same year as the first cohort of women to be admitted to the University, was a photographer for The Cavalier Daily and a photo editor for Corks and Curls.

This collection documents the work of Susan Tyler Hitchcock, writer, editor, and former faculty member at the University of Virginia. This collection includes Hitchcock's correspondence, notes, photographs, research, and drafts of manuscripts.
